check out this cool hummingbird.

if you could fly, would you wanna be able to fly both frontwards and backwards? what if you were offered the ability to fly, but you could only fly backwards?!?!?!

Humdinger of a find: Birders descend on Cape to view feathered rarity

i went to burritos express near downtown crossing today. i had the best burrito of my life. the place also got best burritos in the boston magazine best of boston issue, so i had to try it, and it is TRUE i tell you

after a long time spent not liking typing in CAPS, i think i like typing in CAPS again. i always felt that typing in caps was the same as shouting, which i guess is still true. caps do seem loud and angry, which i don't like, but you can't doubt their EFFECTIVENESS

things that i am into right now -- cutting back on tv watching and reading more books, considering interlibrary loan rather than travelling to suburban libraries, weekends, walking, boston college football, sunshine

i am going to the sox game on friday night with chris. i'm super pumped.

let's see if i can start blogging again and start WRITING. because WRITING is a lot of fun and very satisfying and a great thing to share

k, i'm reading J.M. Coetzee. love him. pretty challenging, but he is cunning. reading "Inner Workings: Literary Essays 2000-2005". it's awesome! pick it up at your local library!

i gotta get a boston public library card too.

i'm also considering scheduling shoulder surgery for september. one of the biggest decisions i've ever made in my life, but i may be making too big a deal of it, probably because i've put it off for FOUR years

more Elliot Hovey

more Elliot Hovey

in case you can't tell, sometimes I get amped about things. as you know, i tend to get really amped sometimes. this is one of those times. i might have to stay up all night Friday to watch rowing. get excited.

Elliot Hovey, Olympian

Elliot Hovey, Olympian

Elliot Hovey is an Olympian. He is the man. I rowed with him out of Boston Rowing Center for a summer in high school. He sat behind me in 4 seat when we won the Junior Mens 8+ Gold Medal in the summer of 2000. I remember that we crossed the finish line and he splashed water on me and gave me a celebratory shoulder shake.

Elliot is from Manchester-By-The-Sea, Massachusetts. He went to Salisbury School. Elliot also won the IRA National Rowing Championship gold medal in the Varsity Heavyweight 8+ in 2006 with my high school coxswain, Tim O'Connell, who is also the man.

Elliot is representing the United States of America in the double along with Wes Piermarini, who is from West Brookfield, Massachuetts and went to the University of Massachusetts, where he was a walkon on the heavyweight crew.

They begin racing Saturday. Watch, and wish them good luck!

way too much music and i can't keep up

way too much music and i can't keep up

from Limited Control - A Companion to the Jim Jarmusch Resource Page

"Words to live by
Q: Do you have words to live by?
A: Jim Jarmusch once told me “Fast, Cheap, and Good… pick two. If it’s fast and cheap it wont be good. If it’s cheap and good it won’t be fast. If it’s fast and good it wont be cheap.” Fast, cheap and good… pick two words to live by."

you're going the wrong way

you're going the wrong way

i heard that this week. i knew it to be true, but it only mattered in context, and a stretch at that

been basketballin and sunning and swimming, i'm pretty lucky, life is strange that way

might have to make it enormous room three times this week. yikes.

everyone loves my dubstep tshirt. and i got love from a guy at my gym for the rondo tshirt.

i'm desperately trying to wear shirts that aren't blue. it's an incredible challenge.

i had one of the better dinners of all time this week at Rendezvous in Central Square. the sous chef, Ben Ladd, is a great friend and hooks it up. anything he touches is delicious. here he is, go say hi to him, buy him a Maker's Mark

bumped into Vicki Siolos of basstown fame a couple times this week. i love how she's responsible for hundreds of people dancing. the steps follow her.

talked to Jam-2 at goodlife on wednesday. told him that i loved the Operation Underground show with 4 DJs. he said thx and said that they were gonna do it again sometime.

i told Pandai'a that she rules and gave her mad props for being the first female DJ to ever play Dubwar in NYC. huge accomplishment, so lucky that she's around here

i've watched some of USA basketball, scrimmaging canada, turkey, lithuania. good times, pretty good commentating, it's scary to think that Dwight Howard might crush the East in years to come.

the weather has been...hot, muggy, stormy, lil loco. there have been a couple pink and purple punsets, beautiful pastel blurs that shift downwards when you aren't looking.

i miss blogging and i miss writing. i talked to Rena this week and she told me of things to do, things that i'm not doing, things that i could be doing. talking to her i imagine myself in other arenas under different stresses, producing quality work of a different kind.

it's August, which is my favorite month of the year. i think i just like the laziness laid back aspect to it. the days are slow, the days are dog days. relaxing isn't done on purpose, it's the only relief from the heat.

the olympics are almost here, don't get me started, i'm concerned for my life because i may have to watch all of it.

my lifelong dream is to actually watch an olympic ping pong game, it might have kind of happened once before, but i reeeeealllly need it this time.

saw Clynton and Sol Melodiq at Kendall Sq yesterday as part of the Berklee Summer Series. they tore it up at the ICA last night too, gettin ppl drunk and dancing. my hat goes off to him and Stephana for getting Boston to boogie.

Manny's gone, adios amigo. you're something else. like they say, you'll do anything.

putting stuff off is dangerous. be wary, very wary, wery, vary.
