night vision

hey, i'm gonna try blogging again. lemme right the ship...

this is a cool rusko album cover.

yeah, it's been a good week. last sunday we grilled! fantastic. serious charcoal grilling. grilled up a ton of food. i grilled chicken and cheeseburgers. wonderful. looking forward to more of it this summer. (summer? could it be?)

yeah it's nice outside. but of course tmrw im getting my car serviced, so ill be stuck inside reading a book for an hour or two (actually not such a bad thing, reading time is a precious commodity these days)

i've found a couple books that i wanna get on interlibrary loan (buying books is not sustainable, but im not sure how easy these are gonna be to get from natick or wherever they are)

The Inner History of Devices, by Sherry Turkle

America's Food: What You Don't Know About What You Eat, by Harvey Blatt

i dont think theres much point in linking to books that i just THINK are cool but havent actually read yet. doesnt show much initiative on my part

yup. last two celtics games have been awesome. actually, the second game was one of the most exciting games ive ever seen. (then donny marshall reminded me that ray allen and ben gordon were guarding each other, so they might have just been LETTING each other hit all those ridiculous shots)

oh yeah i briefly posted about the limits of control a while ago. this is the new jarmusch movie, i think its getting a limited (! hah) release on may 1st, and I hope this includes boston. i cant wait to see it.

its the boston independent film festival this week. i blew it and didnt get tickets for Children of Invention, but i'm gonna rally and go see Breaking Upwards on sunday night with kate and chris and rob, so thatll be good. then its just a gametime decision on whether or not i go see a movie tmrw. unclear at this point

hmmmm, what else is going on.

warm weather

indie film festival

celtics

i need a haircut, bad.

i wanna go bike riding in the fells tmrw but not sure im gonna pull it off.

k ill tty tmrw

a good day (in some ways)

a good day (except the celtics lost, we're not gonna talk about it)

i got to go to the red sox game. Sam took me and it was fun. there were really drunk ppl in front of us (surprise). before we left i realized i had unconsciously been kicking the person in front of me. oh well.

the sox beat the orioles, 6-4. i've got a couple photos i could upload from my phone. good times tho, not cold or rainy. except the seats were so small, like, about as wide as my laptop. so i had to stand up after every half inning. i made it tho, and the T was crowded but bearable.

the Dartmouth freshmen heavyweight crew beat bu and rutgers. this is the first time that any Dartmouth crew has beat BU in a while. definitely a long time since the freshman did. we did my freshman year, so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

The Big Ticket Stub

The mood had lightened enough Friday for second-year forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis to joke about his role as the replacement for “The Big Ticket,” Garnett’s nickname, in Saturday’s series opener.

“I’m not the Big Ticket. I’m the Ticket Stub,” Davis said with a grin. “So don’t count the Ticket Stub out. You might need the ticket to get into the game, but you leave with the ticket stub because you’ll never forget this game. You need it as a souvenir.”

the funniest photo i've ever seen

BY FAR

ok maybe twitter can be kinda funny and not a poor substitute for blogging

here's a tweet that made me think that maybe, just maybe, twitter could contribute something positive to this world

# retweet myself from oct 13th: 'goal for the day: be a good person in a non-ironic fashion.' today: same goal, but stated ironically.6:59 AM Apr 10th from twitterrific

i like to watch movies with subtitles on

is this weird? do you do this? like, even if a movie's in english, if there are subtitles i'd rather watch it with them on. i feel that i catch all the dialogue and it's easier remembering peoples names and stuff. i don't do this when i watch movies with other ppl tho, just if im starting it by myself

Navy SEALS snipers?!?!

Q+A: How the U.S. Navy ended Somali pirate drama

oh yeah and the captain was from Winchester too, believe it or not. Massachusetts. i hope you read about the anti-piracy classes taught at the maritime academy that the crew had taken. incredible. i followed this story from the first day it broke. thank god it ended well, just not for the pirates

more than a dozen ships are still being held by pirates, with more than 200 crewmen. some of the ships have been held since last fall while ransoms are being negotiated

in the frozen fish aisle

can you get it outta your head? didn't think so. that "heartless" beat and autotune is just too good

while i'm up

yo i gotta give you the breakdown before i go to sleep. celtics won in double overtime. complete insanity. celtics scored 8 points in a row, starting with 1:49 remaining in regulation. larry brown did not call a timeout during this entire time, which i believe gave away the game. all the bobcats needed was one stop or one bucket and they didnt get either. i wouldn't mind if the bobcats make the playoffs cause they're a fun team to watch. but BOY did they blow it tonight

yeah i went to enormous room for deep end, which is a wednesday dubstep night. went with paul and farah and erik. it was terrific. listened to Pandaia spin tunes. heavy beats. indoctrinated everyone with the dubstep rhythm.

hope you're feelin the SelfSays album, shoot the man an email

here's a boston photo. that little piece of bridge is my favorite part of boston to drive -- the little curve above the charles
