paying respects

"“I think everyone in Massachusetts feels like they’re their Kennedys,’’ Nagel said, after signing a condolence book placed in the steel-and-glass atrium at the Kennedy library. “There is something special about the Kennedys that makes them ours.’’"

to lighten the mood here are some ridiculous boston tats (check out the zakim bridge!)

distance between us

hey what's up. very sad about teddy kennedy. we'll miss him.

so i'm moving and packing. fun times. i went home and looked through my old stuff -- old papers and letters and photos. wow, it took me way back. i still feel like it's 2000 or 2003 or something. took me waaaaay back. i'm still coming back to the present.

had to drive home today from the cape. wellfleet is incredible. i really think it captured my heart this year. i didnt want to leave. that doesnt happen often with me -- im normally always happy to go home to my comfortable surroundings and routines.

but the beaches are way too beautiful and nice in wellfleet. i'm already looking forward to next year, but i guess i should just try to enjoy the rest of the summer as much as possible.

yeah. ok i'm gonna stuff some more junk in boxes. talk to ya.

Senator Teddy Kennedy

"Kennedy never spoke publicly about the help he gave them. ‘‘We talk about it,’’ said McGinty. ‘‘He downplayed it.’’

Every year that followed, the senator contacted her on the anniversary of the tragedy, and sometimes more often, to check on her and her children, said McGinty.

‘‘I really wondered how I would ever go on, and he’s been such a role model,’’ she said. ‘‘He taught me how to put one foot in front of the other, and do for other people ... I really think that he’s my hero.’’"

you will be remembered. thanks for your years of service. your legacy will live on.

roy reminded me

roy reminded me how effective italics are.

hi

hi how are you. i'm hanging out by the water. it's nice. played basketball today and swam and checked out the waves. very large waves knocking people over. guys surfing (i dono how they do it. must be experienced and very strong swimmers.)

the beaches are "closed", which pretty much means that you can only really walk in up to your knees, and that's it. but at least the weather is holding up, and the hurricane never really showed up.

so yeah. some good things have been happening. we should talk about them and catch up. it's the end of summer, and some of my friends have left, which is really too bad. at the same time though, i feel very lucky and blessed that i've been able to hang out with these folks.

so yeah, some changes are certainly coming. i'm leaving my city of 4 years and moving to the next town over. my roommate and i will be parking each other in during the winter (one garage spot and one behind it), so i don't know how that's gonna be, but i think it'll be fine. i'm very optimistic, and feel like things are going to work out.

i'm also finally not going to be living in an area where there are ambulances and fire trucks and police sirens going off all the time. it's going to be quieter and more peaceful. i'm on a side street by a country club, nothing fancy, but it's going to be nice to hang out on the porch and not be bothered by too much noise pollution.

i'm moving on saturday, and will have to pack and such between wednesday and friday.

then the cable guy is showing up saturday afternoon. that's right, i couldn't even last one night without cable tv and internet at my place. yikes, maybe i'm a little too connected.

anyway, all's well, i hope it's the same with you.

i'll talk to you soon.

here's the celtics schedule with mike and tommy that i know you've been dying to see.

here that i stand

hey what's up. i've been taking some time off, which is a bummer, but im feeling rejuvenated. there's a bunch of things going on, but i'm doing a decent job of staying on top of everything.

it's very hot out, it's been hot this week. i've pretty much been cooped up in my room staying cool when i've been home, but no complaints. i went out and played basketball yesterday and it was hot and i got a lil overwhelmed but i had a good time. just took forever to cool down.

i watched the pats preseason game tonight and it was very boring and there wasnt much scoring. laaaame.

i'm hopefully going to be able to read some at the beach this week, which i am very excited about.

oh yeah and i saw the movie district 9 which was cool. i kinda wanna see it again and write an essay on it (studying scifi films is pretty sweet. like, there are whole books written on the matrix). sometimes theyre very subversive! and district 9 is definitely subversive).

and i wanna see the cove. but i dont really think its for everyone.

aright ill talk to you soon. many hugs

town meeting

a lot of people yelled at Senator Specter. tough crowd.

"Mr. Specter was met by protesters as he left the meeting. He said he thought some of the objectors were genuine grass-roots and some were organized, egged on by talk radio. He also said the meetings had shown him that 'there's more anger in America today than at any time than I can remember.'"

welcome to new england won't you stay awhile

well, so much for looking for shooting stars tonight. those pesky clouds of fog!

"The meteors can appear in any part of the sky, but the tails of the meteors will point back to the constellation Perseus -- the shower's namesake -- in the northeast corner of the sky.

Another potential roadblock to your meteor watching: The weather. The National Weather Service calls for a "mostly cloudy" evening, and a cloud of fog had settled over Boston at around 6 p.m. this evening, delaying flights at Logan International Airport."
