way too much music and i can't keep up

from Limited Control - A Companion to the Jim Jarmusch Resource Page

"Words to live by
Q: Do you have words to live by?
A: Jim Jarmusch once told me “Fast, Cheap, and Good… pick two. If it’s fast and cheap it wont be good. If it’s cheap and good it won’t be fast. If it’s fast and good it wont be cheap.” Fast, cheap and good… pick two words to live by."

you're going the wrong way

you're going the wrong way

i heard that this week. i knew it to be true, but it only mattered in context, and a stretch at that

been basketballin and sunning and swimming, i'm pretty lucky, life is strange that way

might have to make it enormous room three times this week. yikes.

everyone loves my dubstep tshirt. and i got love from a guy at my gym for the rondo tshirt.

i'm desperately trying to wear shirts that aren't blue. it's an incredible challenge.

i had one of the better dinners of all time this week at Rendezvous in Central Square. the sous chef, Ben Ladd, is a great friend and hooks it up. anything he touches is delicious. here he is, go say hi to him, buy him a Maker's Mark

bumped into Vicki Siolos of basstown fame a couple times this week. i love how she's responsible for hundreds of people dancing. the steps follow her.

talked to Jam-2 at goodlife on wednesday. told him that i loved the Operation Underground show with 4 DJs. he said thx and said that they were gonna do it again sometime.

i told Pandai'a that she rules and gave her mad props for being the first female DJ to ever play Dubwar in NYC. huge accomplishment, so lucky that she's around here

i've watched some of USA basketball, scrimmaging canada, turkey, lithuania. good times, pretty good commentating, it's scary to think that Dwight Howard might crush the East in years to come.

the weather has been...hot, muggy, stormy, lil loco. there have been a couple pink and purple punsets, beautiful pastel blurs that shift downwards when you aren't looking.

i miss blogging and i miss writing. i talked to Rena this week and she told me of things to do, things that i'm not doing, things that i could be doing. talking to her i imagine myself in other arenas under different stresses, producing quality work of a different kind.

it's August, which is my favorite month of the year. i think i just like the laziness laid back aspect to it. the days are slow, the days are dog days. relaxing isn't done on purpose, it's the only relief from the heat.

the olympics are almost here, don't get me started, i'm concerned for my life because i may have to watch all of it.

my lifelong dream is to actually watch an olympic ping pong game, it might have kind of happened once before, but i reeeeealllly need it this time.

saw Clynton and Sol Melodiq at Kendall Sq yesterday as part of the Berklee Summer Series. they tore it up at the ICA last night too, gettin ppl drunk and dancing. my hat goes off to him and Stephana for getting Boston to boogie.

Manny's gone, adios amigo. you're something else. like they say, you'll do anything.

putting stuff off is dangerous. be wary, very wary, wery, vary.

the smartest stupid guy i know

i like that

a method to the madness

enormous room was fun tonight, really no excuse for not getting over there once a week

listening to this album doubts and convictions by the troublemakers, it's really good!

c's resigned tony allen and eddie house aka TA and E House. you can't leave the house. i'm really psyched

this is what's percolating, or, as technorati says, Front page / what’s percolating in blogs now

these photos are by j. polon, with an slr. kinda crazy. i'd like to understand what an slr means to a photographer. the jump from photofilm to slr is like regular tv to hd. there's no comparison. if you take a photo with an slr you can make it look like it was designed with a computer, pretty incredible

but j deserves credit for these photos, i really like them and i really think they're impressive

wow, a lotta lotta fun, The Mae Shi

wow, a lotta lotta fun, The Mae Shi

these photos are unrelated, from a bbq a couple weeks back, pong in the rain y'all

The Mae Shi were fantastic at great scott tonight, I wanted them to keep on playing and playing. they did a song from the rapider than horsepower split "Don't Ignore the Potential" and I loved it, "Nickel Arcade"

i had to get the new dvd, a couple t shirts (Jeff, you gotta try one on), and the vinyl. I never buy vinyl, so it's a special rarity for me, two records in the sleeves

managed to get some ppl to come, even saw a friend from winchester unitarian youth group who's going to Spain tmrw. drove over to Joe L.'s with Drew and met up with cats, yv dropped by the hobbit hole for a second, we got there at the right time and remembered our IDs, we even had glowsticks!!!!

here are things that knowledge was exchanged on tonight: BBN and the cost of private pre-secondary education, 16mm cameras from the 1950s from West Germany and their upkeep, and tinkering with old binary-based computer chips to create music.

rockin night, thanks for telling me to blog more.

a very happy 4th

a very happy 4th

outside playing basketball and soccer all day and grilling, then charlestown for a party and more grilling, hanging out with friennnnnnnnds, driving ppl home and going to sleep. can't ask for much more

haven't blogged since wednesday? i need a daily recurring reminder telling me to get on my game

here is a breath-taking article on the olympic rowing team in china. ny times reporters got exclusive access to their nutty training facility, this is a really moving piece, look at the slideshow and watch the video

Rowing is unfamiliar to most Chinese, but their national team, in the gym and on the water, is among the world’s best.

if you really wanna get into it you can keep on reading a times blog post

or this other well-written blog post

oh yeah and you see the exercise that this chinese women is doing? i've done that exercise about 8 trillion times on those elevated platforms where you lie down and sweat all over the place, good times! except that these chinese athletes aren't allowed to go home to see their family for years at a time

"the moment of nothingness before the explosion of everythingness"

"the moment of nothingness before the explosion of everythingness"

i got included in rob's comic this week, i'm very happy about it, check out idiot comics

here's an excerpt from a book about a reporter playing in the nfl My Short, Manic Time in the NFL

the title of this post is a quote from the excerpt in which Fatsis talks about the moment before execution in sports. to me this is the moment before the start of a crew race.
