Happy Halloween!

sup readers. how's it going. just dropping in to say what's up. it's a shame i don't write more, but at least i'm aware of it! i probably shouldn't waste so much (of your) time talking about writing quantity, but it's honestly something that i think about.

ok, went to the dartmouth harvard football game today with my dad. we tailgated for about 20 minutes in the sweet budweiser camping chairs that i won (i entered some contest, won a chair, then changed my address and so they just sent one to both addresses). drank a little and ate a little and rolled in, sat in my awesome crazy creeks and cheered for dartmouth but left when the score got a little out of control

saw a dartmouth guy get thrown out by harvard police, what gives? haha. then we walked across the street and watched the last 5 minutes of the harvard dartmouth soccer game before bouncing. the drunk guy that had gotten thrown out showed up and proclaimed what had just happened and it was funny and we verified it. haha im rambling but whatevaaaa

it's warm outside, almost 70 degrees, humid. im chillin. partying tonight. yeahhhhh

vexation of spirit

from ecclesiastes...

on sunday i finally got out of town. thank god for ambitious friends. went with some buddies apple picking in northboro at tougas farm. success. it was the last day of the season. we drove out there, picked a half bushel, ate a ton of apples, stuffed ourselves with apple cider donuts, kettle corn, and delicious apple cider, bought an apple crisp, watched the sunset, and drove home.

a lovely day and it was good to get away.

my own hibernation starts today -- its basketball season. already i am structuring my social life around celtics games. this is NOT good. it's happening too soon. i need to somehow meet in the middle.

so yeah, the next 6-7 months i just need to be aware of what i am doing and conscious of it and comfortable in it. see, its a big deal!

ok. have fun watching the celtics. i will be :) cya, go boston, D

hello

hi how's it going. i'm hanging out. it's kind of a grey day outside, but its cool. im watcing some football, rooting for uconn (such a sad story).

bc notre dame game is on in 25 minutes. that will be fun to watch. kane and chris and i are making squash soup with a parsnip and some potatoes and stuff. it looks like its gonna be good.

im feeling a little tired but alls well. oh yeah get this --

on tuesday i got on the highway to go somewhere. i realized that i hadnt been on the highway in a couple weeks, i really couldnt remember the last time i had been on the highway.

for the last couple weeks i had been in a routine where i wasnt going to many places and was always going to my folks place to get on the rowing machine and then just going home. and i guess i didnt really go on any trips outta town.

ive pretty much been staying in my own little triangle here, and havent needed to go many places far away. i do think i should start exploring the area a bit more tho, and go on some fun field trips.

not driving on highways made me realize how localized ive become. luckily ive scheduled a trip to los angeles from dec 4 - 11, so at least i have a good trip somewhere far away to look forward to.

i'm also planning on going up to vermont and new hampshire at some point in the next couple of months, maybe even a couple times.

basketball season starts tuesday. i will finally start hanging out in my room upstairs and make it the basketball haven. should be interesting, i hope its not too cold up there.

wow i wrote some. ok talk to you soon, D

great head of the charles but look at this weather report

hey im home and tired and happy from a good weekend of rowing. we had a good row in the alumni eight yesterday, but only placed 18th out of 34 crews. this was my first time being in an age adjusted handicapped race, and now i understand the challenges.

still, a good race. ill blog more later.

today was somethin else, frrrrrreeezing out there

AN ANOMALOUS EARLY SEASON WINTER WEATHER EVENT IS UNDERWAY ACROSS A GOOD PORTION OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND AS A NOREASTER CONTINUES TO MOVE SOUTHEAST OF NANTUCKET. LIGHT TO OCCASIONALLY MODERATE SLEET

Thursday, October 15, 2009

hey

hey what's up man i wish i was making more time to write oh well. head of the charles is in two days. after that i will have more time.

the weather is supposed to be nasty this weekend. im hoping it isnt but im preparing for the worst. i've rowed in nearly unrowable conditions a couple times, so i think ill be alright. i just hope that people show up and that it's not too cold. or windy. or rainy.

i am listening to Quantic & His Combo Bárbaro. recommended!

Saturday, October 10, 2009

yo

yo lemme just get in one here before the game starts. its a nice day outside and its warm! i hear birds chirping, alls well. so far ive vacuumed, cleaned the rug, and cleaning up the place. feeling pretty good about everything.

had to write a post that didnt have a bc photo, so here it is. i found this photo a while ago, thought it was pretty cool

i got a lil bit of a headache but i think itll go away, no big deal.

one week til head of the charles. im really excited. i dont think ive ever felt this way before a race -- just so amped. i guess i used to be nervous before races, but now i just wanna go out and have a good time.

aright i gotta eat some eggs and toast. later.

Thursday, October 08, 2009

hey

hey im having a hard time updating this old blog here. im gonna keep at it. im pretty busy, still training for the head of the charles (did i mention?)

october 17th, 11am, come out and watch me!

its the best weekend of the year.

but yeah stuff is good. im just trying to be responsible, get sleep, be the man, be productive, etc. yeah. theres a lot going on. im going to california in december, pretty excited about that

ok ill talk to you soon.

Sunday, October 04, 2009

hey

hey how's it going? boston college beat florida state today. it was a great game. except that bc only attempted two passes in the 3rd quarter. you need to stop playing not to lose! but it was a really good game and the coaches and players should be very happy. good times.

got a haircut today, went to whole foods, watched a ton of football. went to the 24 hour cvs, hung out, might play the ps3 a little bit.

sun's out...oh wait no it's not

malator...lol

i even did a load of laundry today. i've learned the strategy with me and laundry -- to ensure that i wash, dry and fold the same load of laundry in the same day i have to only do ONE load per day. but it works. yahhh

ive got my weight at 200 but im gonna try to lose a couple pounds of beer by head of the charles (two weeks). i'm feeling good and fit but i've been pretty reckless about eating so i gotta be a little more careful here these next two weeks

but it looks like it might be 70 and sunny tmrw. wha?!?!

aright i'm havin a good time ill talk to you soon

all types

hey boy it's getting harder and harder to keep on blogging!

but i guess i'll just keep on trying. here's a photo of ray allen.

i feel very QUOTIDIAN. and i feel like the things i am now saying on here are very QUOTIDIAN. but i am still going to say them. because, after all, what is life without the QUOTIDIAN?

been watching football and rowing and playing basketball. all good things. mostly getting enough sleep. trying to be productive, getting stuff done.

yeah. there's still not enough time to do everything that i'd like, but that's ok. i'm just trying to stay positive and take care of things. like laundry! always, freakin, laundry.

ate food from coast cafe last night, which was really good. fried chicken and pork chops, candied yams, rice, collared greens, mac + cheese. yummy.

man i can put away the food. plates and plates of the stuff. sheesh!

aright well i gotta get rollin, hopefully ill get back on here soon.

oh yeah and Drew -- we haven't hung out in a while. let's hang out soon. peace.

Sunday, September 27, 2009

yo

yo whats up cant really talk but i went to the bc game yesterday and they won. then the patriots won today. it was awesome.

weather was really nice yesterday. clear, pretty warm. the stadium was packed, 40000 people. and i just found out that college gameday is coming to bc next weekend. pretty cool!

it was rainy today, and i watched the pats with chris, kane, and rob. good times. set up joshs xbox afterwards and played some bioshock. also crushed a little call of duty today. cant wait for the new call of duty to come out! also gonna get a ps3 this week hopefully, that should be awesome

yup. head of the charles is 3 weeks away. gotta get in shape!

talk to you soon.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

i don't use punctuation punctuation uses ME

yeah that doesnt make sense. but whatever. hey whats up im hanging out. just tryin to get my posts in whenever possible. its warm outside. some might say UNSEASONABLY warm. what's that about? the weather is trying to make up for june. because june stunk. we know this.

yeah. so i was erging tonight and the monitor stopped working. simply put -- DEVASTATING. i replaced the batteries and that didnt work. the ergometer is a rowing machine. i think erg means energy. so yeah, its completely misleading. i think the idea is that ROWING takes an enormous amount of ENERGY. kinda.

so yeah im gonna google it and try to fix it. it stinks tho. ive still gotta get in shape for head of the charles. you should definitely come watch me at head of the charles if you can. its like my favorite weekend.

yup. aright there's stuff going on, i wanna talk about things, but im gonna leave it at that. there's a lotta life to go around. i just wanted to say hi to my friends, and i guess hi to the people that read this that i dont know. so, hi!

i hope you have a good one.

thanks netflix!

wow, thanks for the recommendation netflix! i'm so glad you figured out what i've been trying to convey to people my whole life -- i love critically-acclaimed dark australian movies! yes! it's about time you figured that out! certainly took long enough!

i mean, it's obvious that i don't care for dark australian movies that arent critically received well. that's no mystery.

ok ill stop. i just like the sub-sub-sub-genre. gotta respect that. the contextual relevance of it though just threw me off.

yeah bc lost today it stunk. but the pats play tmrw, woooo!

aright gotta stay productive later

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

yo

yo hows it going im hanging out. i dont like using punctuation anymore. i just want all the sentences to run together.

here are some photos of cambridge carnival which was sunday. yeah, thats carnival as in carnivale! with a parade and dancing and soundsystems (stacks of speakers on the back of pickup trucks). pretty cool went with friends and added a couple more sets of friends and we had a fun time.

it took forever for the parade to finally come down the street to central sq but it was worth waiting. the costumers were pretty incredible. these photos arent mine, but i might post some later.

it was pretty cool. i bought a trinidad and tobago flag. exciting! i then later went to kendall sq where many tents were set up and i got some street food -- jerk ribs, plantains, red beans and rice, jerk chicken with some diabolically hot scotch bonnet pepper sauce. that was terrific too.

cool. this is the first post im writing from my kitchen table. thank goodness i have a kitchen table now. i think i should still get seat cushions tho. on the todo list!

k ill talk to you soon, bye

Monday, September 14, 2009

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

hey

hey im just checkin in just sayin whats up. gotta go to bed. gnite.

Monday, September 07, 2009

yo

yo i'm lovin it right now, a lot doin around town. still feel good about the bc game, looking forward to watching the game next weekend.

just found out that i'm going to be rowing in the head of the charles. this is my 6th (!) head of the charles. i'm a pretty lucky guy. i'm going to be in the dartmouth alumni boat if you want to root for us. i just erged today for the first time in a loooong time, and i'm gonna have to erg plenty of times between now and oct 17.

this year there's an alumni only event for the first time, which will be good because we wont be racing against other younger faster crews. now we just gotta get a couple ringers to fill out the boat.

the goal this year is to finish the race without being disqualified! haha. i think i'm in better shape than i was a couple years ago when i last rowed in it. and i'm gonna train harder better and smarter too.

i'm amped.

-Dave

Sunday, September 06, 2009

hi

hi how's it going. it's too late and too busy to write anything substantial. had a fun day watching football and hanging out with friends. boston college beat northeastern 54-0. it was pretty awesome. and the us soccer team played well, from what i saw.

i like this photo of coach spaziani looking at the hourly weather forecast. i do that all the time!

yeah. been having fun hanging out and setting the place up and seeing people. went to the farmers markets today and had a feast which was nice. heirloom tomatoes were awesome. i got a local canteloupe which was delicious. made a salad with red lettuce and carrots and radishes and peaches. yum. good times.

oh yeah and all the beatles albums have finally been remastered. pretty cool. time to get beatles songs stuck in your head again!

aright ill ttys --Dave

Thursday, September 03, 2009

hey

hey how's it going. i'm hanging out. listening to some good music. in my new place. you gotta check it out. i've gotta go out now and pick up the foam rug pad so i can have a huge relatively soft rug in my living room. yo this building is olllld. built in 1917. pretty cool though.

i just hope everything continues to kinda work, and that a couple more things get fixed up before the cold winter. wow its beautiful outside. if i hadnt moved i woulda been playing basketball and getting more sun, but instead ive just been running around. its cool tho.

its sooo quiet here. i cant even tell if i have my window open cause its so quiet outside! i'm coming from the city and living on main streets for almost four years. yeah. it's less crowded here and i feel less stressed out, yeehaw.

ok, im gonna use the excuse of being too busy to sign off. but ill ttys, later

times like these huh...

distance between us

hey what's up. very sad about teddy kennedy. we'll miss him.

so i'm moving and packing. fun times. i went home and looked through my old stuff -- old papers and letters and photos. wow, it took me way back. i still feel like it's 2000 or 2003 or something. took me waaaaay back. i'm still coming back to the present.

had to drive home today from the cape. wellfleet is incredible. i really think it captured my heart this year. i didnt want to leave. that doesnt happen often with me -- im normally always happy to go home to my comfortable surroundings and routines.

but the beaches are way too beautiful and nice in wellfleet. i'm already looking forward to next year, but i guess i should just try to enjoy the rest of the summer as much as possible.

yeah. ok i'm gonna stuff some more junk in boxes. talk to ya.

Senator Teddy Kennedy

"Kennedy never spoke publicly about the help he gave them. ‘‘We talk about it,’’ said McGinty. ‘‘He downplayed it.’’

Every year that followed, the senator contacted her on the anniversary of the tragedy, and sometimes more often, to check on her and her children, said McGinty.

‘‘I really wondered how I would ever go on, and he’s been such a role model,’’ she said. ‘‘He taught me how to put one foot in front of the other, and do for other people ... I really think that he’s my hero.’’"

you will be remembered. thanks for your years of service. your legacy will live on.

Sunday, August 23, 2009

roy reminded me

roy reminded me how effective italics are.

hi

hi how are you. i'm hanging out by the water. it's nice. played basketball today and swam and checked out the waves. very large waves knocking people over. guys surfing (i dono how they do it. must be experienced and very strong swimmers.)

the beaches are "closed", which pretty much means that you can only really walk in up to your knees, and that's it. but at least the weather is holding up, and the hurricane never really showed up.

so yeah. some good things have been happening. we should talk about them and catch up. it's the end of summer, and some of my friends have left, which is really too bad. at the same time though, i feel very lucky and blessed that i've been able to hang out with these folks.

so yeah, some changes are certainly coming. i'm leaving my city of 4 years and moving to the next town over. my roommate and i will be parking each other in during the winter (one garage spot and one behind it), so i don't know how that's gonna be, but i think it'll be fine. i'm very optimistic, and feel like things are going to work out.

i'm also finally not going to be living in an area where there are ambulances and fire trucks and police sirens going off all the time. it's going to be quieter and more peaceful. i'm on a side street by a country club, nothing fancy, but it's going to be nice to hang out on the porch and not be bothered by too much noise pollution.

i'm moving on saturday, and will have to pack and such between wednesday and friday.

then the cable guy is showing up saturday afternoon. that's right, i couldn't even last one night without cable tv and internet at my place. yikes, maybe i'm a little too connected.

anyway, all's well, i hope it's the same with you.

i'll talk to you soon.

here's the celtics schedule with mike and tommy that i know you've been dying to see.

you like this little exercise in graphic design? haha i was just messin around. i might try to do some more bad abstract graphic design art tho, its a good release.

wow is it hot and muggy outside! air so thick you have to wade through it like a hazy pea soup.

i'm goin outta town for a couple days, then when i come back im moving, so its gonna be busy! but busy is a good thing.

everything's good. stay in touch.

here that i stand

hey what's up. i've been taking some time off, which is a bummer, but im feeling rejuvenated. there's a bunch of things going on, but i'm doing a decent job of staying on top of everything.

it's very hot out, it's been hot this week. i've pretty much been cooped up in my room staying cool when i've been home, but no complaints. i went out and played basketball yesterday and it was hot and i got a lil overwhelmed but i had a good time. just took forever to cool down.

i watched the pats preseason game tonight and it was very boring and there wasnt much scoring. laaaame.

i'm hopefully going to be able to read some at the beach this week, which i am very excited about.

oh yeah and i saw the movie district 9 which was cool. i kinda wanna see it again and write an essay on it (studying scifi films is pretty sweet. like, there are whole books written on the matrix). sometimes theyre very subversive! and district 9 is definitely subversive).

and i wanna see the cove. but i dont really think its for everyone.

aright ill talk to you soon. many hugs

town meeting

a lot of people yelled at Senator Specter. tough crowd.

"Mr. Specter was met by protesters as he left the meeting. He said he thought some of the objectors were genuine grass-roots and some were organized, egged on by talk radio. He also said the meetings had shown him that 'there's more anger in America today than at any time than I can remember.'"

welcome to new england won't you stay awhile

well, so much for looking for shooting stars tonight. those pesky clouds of fog!

"The meteors can appear in any part of the sky, but the tails of the meteors will point back to the constellation Perseus -- the shower's namesake -- in the northeast corner of the sky.

Another potential roadblock to your meteor watching: The weather. The National Weather Service calls for a "mostly cloudy" evening, and a cloud of fog had settled over Boston at around 6 p.m. this evening, delaying flights at Logan International Airport."

yo

yo hey i really dont like letting this blog be a little dormant, but its for the best right now, i got a couple other priorities

went to nyc for the weekend. went to long island, queens, and manhattan, and got lost in brooklyn on the way home today. good times! saw citi field (huge!) and the nytimes building (rad!) from the highway today, so that was cool

otherwise, enjoying august. trying to play basketball, get sun, get vaguely a tiny bit tan. should be a couple fun parties coming up, im gonna try to squeeze out every last little drop of summer in every day

check it out -- it's dee brown. did you know that reebok still makes shoes that you can pump? haha pretty funny

mp3 beatdown

one of the most fun nights ive had. at the ica, one free complimentary drink courtesy of puma, great dj, great mc, 8 teams battling with 45 second mp3 punches in the ring for the heavyweight title belt.

showed up ontime and hung out looking over the harbor. what a nice setting. kicked it and gave props to the dj and said good luck to the lab crew and dapped up your boy c dubs. said whatup to your boy new from puma who produced the whole thing, gotta give thanks for that.

views of boston, tons of old school rap, many people having a good time, some incredible break dancing, some friends, it doesnt get much better. puma, you aint bad.

this rock was not here yesterday.

“Some of these things cannot be trained, obviously,” said Jennifer Murphy, a psychologist at the Army Research Institute and the principal author of the I.E.D. study. “But some may be; these are fighters who become very sensitive to small changes in the environment. They’ll clear the same road every day and notice ridiculously subtle things: this rock was not here yesterday.”
