i think these photos are of uproot andy
"How do we know who we are or what we can become? We tell ourselves stories. The stories we tell are what we know of ourselves. We are a creation, a product of our own minds, a pastiche of memory, dream, fear, desire. My memory looks like a chil’s collage, or a ransom note, incomplete and full of holes. All I have is today, this moment, to work with. I am writing my story as I go. I am inventing myself one moment, one experience, at a time."

-Marya Hornbacher

"Quixote seems a bizarre fellow at first acquaintance, but most of those who come into contact with him end up half converted to his wa of thinking, and therefore half quixotic themselves. If there is any lesson he teaches, it is that in the interest of a better, more lively world it might not be a bad idea to cultivate in oneself a capacity for dissociation, not necessarily under conscious control, even though this might lead outsiders to conclude that one suffers from delusions."

"The Falcons victory marked only the third time since the NFL merger in 1970 that a team has won a game after losing the lead with less than 15 seconds remaining."

Bye week better after win for Matt Ryan

Ryan wildly exceeding expectations for rejuvenated Falcons

also, sounds like he's gonna be at the bc vtech game this weekend, maybe ill get to see him at halftime! yahh!! hate to love some guy on another team so much, but it was the first time i had really been able to watch the falcons, and it was just such a nutty game.

can you believe that it's only happened 3 times since 1970? crazy!!

The Suns and Nuggets will play the first outdoor NBA game of the modern era Saturday, a preseason contest at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif., televised by TNT. The 16,000-seat stadium, which is used for pro tennis tournaments, is an NBA-style arena with no roof in the desert. According to weather.com, the projected temperature is 92 degrees.

"Talking the talk: An NBA source said the consensus among the league's referees is that the player and coach who use the most choice words during games are Boston's Kevin Garnett and Utah's Jerry Sloan. The source also said the referees take into account that it's just part of their intense makeup and they have learned not to take it personally."

starting a new uk underground/garage podcast

starting a new uk underground/garage podcast

i've been playing around with the idea of starting a podcast for a while now. electronic music, hip hop, and all things UK are my current fave genres, so i put together a little podcast

it's enhanced, which means that there are chapters and album artwork and you can bounce around in the track. a lil dubstep and uk hip hop for good measure. i dono what i'm gonna end up calling my dj name or what i would call the series, but for the time being...

DJ cowdog presents Top Deck Tracks.

There were parties thrown in Pierce's honor in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Boston. He sat down with late-night TV hosts Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel. "P-Squared" was finally a star outside Boston, and he's "working on a couple things" endorsement-wise that could come to light by the time the season starts. Oh yeah, keep an eye out for his Nike signature sneaker with his left forearm tattoo, "My Gift. My Curse," on it.

here's a really good song too, chase and status -- eastern jam

k those are some good ones. gotta go lift weights today, last time i'm gonna be able to do that for a while! got shoulder surgery scheduled for thursday, finally gonna get it over with, gonna suck, but i'll be alright. we'll see how the sling thing goes, i'm sure i'll be able to use a keyboard ok

weather's kinda lame. i read the metro this morning and there was a letter to the editor about how all the negative press about palin is actually bad for the democrats because it is A LOT OF PRESS which means that they are getting a lot of ATTENTION which is NOT A GOOD THING.

think about how many times you've seen biden recently? like, none. press -- you're blowin it, stop the palin stories, we know she's beyond brutal

pbs poll -- do you think sarah palin is qualified to be vice president?

got forwarded this this morning, i forwarded it on, posting it here, apparently republicans got wind of this beforehand and are gonna try to win it, which is wack

sarah palin is the HARRIET MIERS of this years election. it doesn't get any more simple. she is so beyond unqualified it's a joke. of course calling anyone QUALIFIED is an effort in imagination and extrapolation, but she is clearly not the person for the job.

we are taking the attention away from barack OBAMA. also, watched daily show and colbert last night. two themes from the debate -- mccain saying barack doesn't "understand" things and then barack saying that mccain is "right." barack -- it's a debate yo. it's a DEBATE. come on

k there's my political rant. the last 8 years have resulted in hurting this country and the world. feeling unempowwered and disenfranchised you have to SPEAK UP and show that you still CARE

vote on nov 4. our voter turnout is so low that it's a joke, let's change that. get involved

lotta fun at dartmouth, couldn't be better

was gonna drive up friday, but rain was bad and it was better to be inside with paul and kate and farah

drove up yesterday, went to ebas at 6, saw pete and everyone and scott and alums and talked to undergrads. they were all so nice and happy and eager and introduced themselves to us.

found out that some of the traditions we started have not failed -- rowers still squash each others foods with their hands

Rena compiled another poem from my blog, thus I am elated. Read her post at the Kore Press blog and hit up the comments section.

I gotta go to a gallery
in my shaq dunkmans,
relaxing alternating with aspirations and intermittent accomplishments.
Please support the artist.
Traveling to suburban libraries, I had to build levees.
The bartender had to come over and say that his ears couldn't handle it.
I had the best burrito of my life.
This poor guy in the Ukraine wishes he wasn't tall.
Protein bars or protein shakes?

widget snapshot

widget snapshot

eh pretty clever for a random creative blogpost huh?

i didn't go to that show last night because i got sick, but i'm feeling better now. stupid stomach bug

widgets are cool, i just installed a blogger widget to show who comes to the page

although these widgets are kind of cool. i'm always looking at them when i'm on this computer which is falling apart, monitor held together by binder clips, guts and cables spilling out

my network works fine now after i got mad at comcast then realized it was my fault because all i needed to do was turn off the turbo on my router (dummy)

my calendar is cool, the neon green on black is a fave of mine, design is pretty brilliant too, thanks to apple

the sol widget that shows you where you are in the day with the sunrise and sunset is pretty cool. cept i never seem to be too conscious of when the sunrise and sunset are. i'm always sleeping through the sunrise, and i don't have any great view of a sunset, more of a church, which isn't so bad

the upload/download widget is cool and shows me how rapidly i'm depleting the few square inches of space i have left on my hard drive

the weather widget is awesome, seems like the weather is always up to something! except you know what i find kind of annoying? get this -- when there's only like a 20 or 30 percent chance of rain then the icon turns to rain?!!?? but that only means it might rain!! ya know?!?!

yeah, you know what i mean, i think i'm just bitter from all the rain this summer

i've become a professional music downloader, i've been pretty lucky and gotten pretty good and come across some really good stuff. here is a pretty amazing mp3 disclaimer i found. oh yeah mp3 disclaimers are for *******

"You can not download music from this page just you can watch links. In spite of this webpage come into being for popularization of electronic music. If you even so decide to download this PROMOTION music than you do this your own responsibility and you have to remove this within 24 hours then again you commit delinquency. You can purchase original version in shops."

one day rudebwoy

one day rudebwoy

from the wikipedia entry for bao xishun, who is the 2nd tallest person in the world (first tallest is this poor guy in ukraine who wishes he wasn't tall):

"In December 2006, Bao Xishun was asked by veterinarians to assist them in removing shards of plastic from the stomachs of two dolphins. The dolphins had accidentally swallowed the shards, which had settled in their stomachs and caused a loss of appetite and depression. Veterinarians had failed to remove them, so Bao Xishun used his 1.06 metre-long arms to reach into the dolphins' stomachs, to remove the plastic manually.[3] The manager of the aquarium, the Royal Jidi Ocean World, confirmed, "When we failed to get the objects out we sought the help of Bao Xishun from Inner Mongolia and he did it successfully yesterday. The two dolphins are expected to make a full recovery."[4] (A similar operation was performed by American basketball player Clifford Ray, who was asked to use his long arms to save a California dolphin in 1978.)[5]"

(thought you'd like that one Jeff)

i wanna learn about the New croton aquaduct after watching some of sandhogs

nice weather today, i played basketball and was dunking really well, did exercises. there's new paint and surface on the courts, and it looks like they're in the process of painting the lines

at dartmouth in geology class you learn that there is more granite in vermont than in new hampshire

at dartmouth in geology class you learn that there is more granite in vermont than in new hampshire

Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades; the shoemaker hangs out a gigantic shoe, the jeweler a monster watch, and the dentist hangs out a gold tooth; but up in the mountains of New Hampshire God almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men.

-Daniel Webster
