Every year on september 11th I usually get glued to the tv screen and watch a made for tv special on the tragic events. I usually end up getting teary. For me, it’s a good way to reflect on what happened. For the past ten years I’ve taken time out of every september 11th to watch whatever new tv special it was, and then reflect on it.
This year, on september 11th, 2011, things changed. There were no full length, hour long presentations with archival footage and interviews. Instead, I watched the “man in the red bandana” sportscenter clip (worth watching, very inspiring). On tv there was coverage of the memorial and other remembrance events. I think that the tv stations got tired of doing the same old show. It was much easier for news outlets to just broadcast live from ground zero rather than produce more 9/11 specials.
Still, I observed. I remembered, and I reflected.
