the marine in my doorway

the marine in my doorway. ok, the entryway. i came back from lunch and there was a marine in the entryway to my house, which is a building with 6 apts. but, not like the marines, like a bum who's a vet. he was drunk and sitting cross-legged next to his bags and booze. i talked to him for a bit.

he said he was headed to the shelter on albany street. i decided not to intervene. i went upstairs, and hours later a cop car came by and a van from a street outreach program rolled up and led him, stumbling, inside. i thought about all the people that help people, whose jobs it is to help people. you can apply this description to just about anyone, but it shines through. benevolent workers.

the cambridge cops have to deal with central sq drunks. today i gave the spare change guy a dollar in front of au bon pain in harvard. i saw the guy that used to sell the spare change magazine in downtown crossing on broadway in cambridge last week. i've heard a story of seeing a harvard sq bum in nyc.

i wouldn't mind having a job which required me to take the redline somewhere. i would read the metro and the globe or the herald every day.

spank rock, stanton warriors, junkie xl, boom bip, football basketball and music tonight. lighting festivities

making you go places

i'm gonna make you go places

look at these drawings

Lucile Maiseau: Quand je serai grande, je serai graphiste...

i don't take french, i don't go to french class

that's really funny/wait, what?

Lee Perry says "Dub it Iyah. Dub it Iyah. Yeah...Do it Iyah. Do it Iyah. Yes!" lee perry is also nucking futs

wait, what? what? no. no. yeah? nah.

if you can tolerate listening to scratchy recordings from the 60s then R&B Ska Beat 45s Volume 1 is for you.

blue doritos, cool ranch, ugh. i've eaten thousands of pounds of food with names that are not names from nature. like pop tarts.

i went to the gym today, there they have the plates that have handles on them, which is worth the price of membership, wait no it isnt.

reading more, which is good news. i realized today that for a job to work for me i have to always feel like i am learning. i didn't realize how important it was. also means i might get super picky about work, we'll see

shoot i didnt call shane today, i also need to write a blurb to send to rowers, ok todo list for today. this is what i have so far (real boring), it's for the 05 newsletter im starting:
"I’m currently living near Central Square in Cambridge. This is the 4th Cambridge apt. I’ve lived in. I have two great roommates who are finishing up college, and I’m grateful to have my best living situation yet.

Since college I’ve worked at National Public Radio, Sermo.com, and TechTarget, focusing on website content management and production. Right now, I’m taking some time off after getting really stressed out at Reed Business Information in Waltham. I had been working there since May in web operations and online advertising. I’m going to take a trip to L.A. next week, then start yet another job search."

i get to see boom bip live in a week. celebration and holy f*ck are playing middle east tonight, celtics are gonna play and prob lose. bc bball and umass bball both won big games. matt gave me his shirt which was too big for him, it's pretty goofy. fish have scales and tails, they swim on scales and breathe tales. they gulp pond water.

staying culturally literate

right. i kinda not really have emails to write and sorta not exactly have phone calls to make and totally don't have any texts to send. ive gotta go to the gym today, motivatemotivatemotivate.

these blogs are getting funny, marks and roys and jeffs that is. ahahahah self reflection

short attention span theater, chester, damn, people, lots

matt hamilton used to use a lot of semicolons, in his emails i think. like, a lot of them. he's also the funniest person on earth, so we can learn a lot from him. i think he actually gets back, or is back, i'm gonna write him

the cool kids played at dartmouth last night, i think. i think i'm gonna get a hard drive to finally offload my drive so that im not just deleting old music to make way for the new

i can't wait to see boom bip at the viper room. a certain someone does not like the viper room, i hope i don't get in trouble

my computer is a little souped up, but i would be crushed if i lost this drive, which is why i gotta back it up like today. i'm having a hard time doing anything but read right now though.

apart from richard brautigan and colson whitehead, i'm gonna look at the sixth extinction: journeys among the lost and left behind, by terry glavin. blogging reminds me of a typewriter

i'm on a typewriter, this was scanned

we lost power, but then we got it back

the power went out, but then it came back on. i had to go downstairs in the hallway to turn off the trouble alarm in whatever electrical box is on the wall on the first floor. i had to do this twice, once when the power turned off, and then again when it came back on. this was gratifying, because the alarm was loud and annoying, and i was proactive.

do people really listen to grime? nowhere near as many people as listen to hiphop. also, here is the link to see my roommate clynton in an episode of my super sweet sixteen. he's at the sneaker store looking unimpressed.
It's The Shoes
he's standing 2:12 seconds in, next to the guy reading the magazine

now i wanna stay up. i need to get on a regular schedule. this is hard for me. again, bugs have it made, they don't need to sleep.

yawn, i gotta bunch of books to read, which is good. celtics lost, brutal game. i gotta rally and get up early. i'm alternately really good and really bad at motivating myself.

rob's my space says "i've lost the will to...whatever." if you go to his site and look at the forum you'll see that his site gets hundreds of views.

clynton described to me a new york party that i'd like to be at. the party this friday night will be...hopefully not disappointing.

oh yeah, so matt and i went to the all night falafel place, falafel palace, and talked to these two mit guys that worked in robotics and they told us about the mit robot which was one of 5 cars to finish the recent darpa race, i might post a link, it was the mit entry named talos, robotically controlled cars

rena told me about three fears, global warming, artifical intelligence surpassing human intelligence, and questioning our reality.

tryin to climb ladders

listening to quasimoto. watched boom bip interview. two very sad sports stories today.

my apt is getting another heater installed, in the living room this time, now all will be warm. i was just asked "what level do you like the heat set at?" i took my headphones off and said "low". my back is hurting from my bed, so it needs to be replaced. i wonder if i there's a long new yorker article i actually want to read.

i never had a bad back during college and 8 years of rowing, and now i'm hurting. i gotta go to the gym bad. ben got a tongue ring, seriously.

i need to start listening to WZBC more. but i only have one set of ears, which makes it difficult. alternating between the live and the stored. the on air and the archived. the streaming and the filed. the streamed and the stored. the radio and the mp3.

in trying to think positive, don't think of bad things. if you think of bad things, thank that they're not that bad. this is impossible.

i've been told to see a chiropractor and an osteopath, for different reasons. should i? i should. i want instant surgery that does not require going to a hospital or recovery.

it's Tuesday, warm out, shorts. prefuse 73 at paradise tonight, i should go, but will probably just watch celtics. who knoooowwwwwss. i gotta settle on a dvd to watch tmrw. the article about the nyc manhole covers made in india was crazy. i can't make my mind up about the new bob dylan movie. unclear, as they say.

it gets better/glitch click blip

the glitch in the click in the blip. i'm on albumhunt. worth a look. albumhunt.com the album is the other side los angeles by madlib. this is good.

it's 60 degrees outside now, that's so warm, means today is gonna be real nice.

i hate stickers on things that i buy

i agree. i don't like the word hate. i don't even like using it, or speaking it. it's so easy to hate, and it's so easy to destroy, and it's so hard to resist not saying that you hate things.

there are stickers on bananas and peaches and plums. the worst stickers are on cds.

i don't have class tmrw, i don't have work, i don't have drill, i don't have an appt. i am going to go to the arlington library tmrw afternoon and pick up a couple books. i want to read tonight. rena tells me she is reading and writing a lot, which is altogether quite impressive.

it's november 26th. matt just stubbed his toe moving the couch. get this -- there is another david hyde that goes to my massage place. coincidences are funny. but that's it. they're just funny.

reaching out, branching out, speaking out, sticking out. the air outside is warm right now, around 50 degrees. 50 degrees is warm to me. better, the better, i better, the better of, better not, better.

kind of listening, watching the space between. if it's 53 degrees tmrw i need to wake up early and get out and savor.

to revel in and appreciate. it's what you make of it. it makes you. you make it. it makes you make it. you make it make you.

the witch doctor speaks his mind

the witch doctor speaks his mind. the weekend came to an end. i don't have to work today, but it sounds like andy might be starting a job. get this, ray allen is now andys neighbor. i can't believe it. i saw his brother last night.

rena and i talked for a long time today, slowly catching up. we reinforce. she saw the blow live! rena is getting me to read richard brautigan and anais nin. we give each other a head full of words. we are not at the river ranch.

i lived on the river for a long time. i heard it and watched it. i also rowed on 10+ miles of it for four years. but living on (above) water is strange. the bedrooms sliding door opens to the water. you sit on the edge and your legs dangle. i'm still injured from jumping in and not keeping my arms down. life goes on.

this weekend a lot happened. two parties in a row, reuniting, then to top it all off jeff and i got to go to the patriots game. it was a thriller, with new england pulling out the win, both sides calling great games and the eagles blowing it with a late interception when they could have kicked a field goal. incredible game, jeffs first, we showed everyone in Gilette Stadium our old pats towel.

heart, the verb.

funny shaped ice cubes come from trays

fun at home last night, it looked like a bomb hit. we found magazines, old ones. bc beat miami. celtics play soon. nother party tonight. boston style.

k ill stop posting severe weather alerts. non stop, non stick, go go go. i saw john and joe l. last night, which was cool. joe told me about grad school. i haven't seen much cassavetes. junior boys album. i hope i see a show this week. i have a contact lens appt real early on monday, that was a mistake, i didnt realize i had more contacts.

prefuse 73 at paradise, that's gotta be the one. maybe not, i should go though, i always say that

the main light fixture in my living room is too bright, that's why i have lamps, dimmer.....

i wanna go skiing. oh yeah, Wednesday, November 28:
* M.I.A. - Palladium
that's where the fun is at, come on. just watched top ten most unsportsman like plays.

songs, repetitive, new music, festivals of new music, but what's the adjective, the descriptor, newwwwwwwwwwwww unheard. sound tunnels, not sound gardens. sound roof gardens. empty disclosure.

razorbacks

im rooting for arkansas, but ive never seen a wild hog with tusks. relaxing here with kane, chris is coming over, gonna pick up paul and farah, its a good time. just heard from jeff, shane, faith, and josie. tomorrow night is amys cocktail party in boston right near boston common

cold outside, i can say that pretty much every day, it still means something. garbled garbage. many impressive things, including kanes job. im going to los angeles dec 4-12, which i like, while i find new york overwhelming. looks like i'm gonna have a chance to see faith.

rob frashures artwork is great.

ceatles play at 9 30 against the lakers. bc tmrw. nuttiness.

we have electric heating in my place. i don't like chatting online anymore. aright ttys

ok ok ok

ok ok ok. missed call? you should sign up for callwave. seriously. look it up online. its great. best thing ever.

chris is walking here from the b side. i need to go there. i recommend the blue room in kendall sq. i once went to shine, which is right next to it. i gotta get back to the kendall sq cinema, which i used to be unable to find in high school.

gettin weird. watched that movie knocked up tonight with friends, ridiculous. but now i wanna see superbad.

the stream of consciousness has rivers, offshoots, tangents.

i need a real facebook profile photo, as well as a ringtone. these are important things.

que sera, wax tailor

im serious when i tell you that on Tuesday night I saw a head on collision happen right in front of me. both drivers were fine thank god, but it was crazy. it happened on south border rd, which im now being told to just avoid in general because its a dangerous street

tonight i drove through fog. they play soccer games in the fog. television cameras record the games even though it's hazy. the fog gets so bad here that your brights in your car make it worse.

in hanover we used to row in the fog, thick as pea soup, in the morning before it burned off. zero visibility, risky rowing. i remember being at the river ranch and watching upriver as a wall of fog slowly glided down the connecticut. much cooler than the fog in pirate movies.

...DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EST THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EST THURSDAY.

dude, spinach is spinach

last night me and matt went to an apt in allston called the snake farm. he doesnt know why its called that. we enjoyed a gorilla finger and played cranium. cranium is pretty funny. catchphrase is good too.

its wednesday night, around 9pm. tomorrow is thanksgiving. there are articles you can read about thanksgiving that talk about what it means for different people and the different histories we make for thanksgiving. i don't feel like getting into it

tomorrow is the thanksgiving day football game between woburn and winchester. im not going this year. i should go, maybe i will have a change of mind

ok im being a bad guest, byeeeeeeee

the poem on the whiteboard in my kitchen

the poem on the whiteboard in my kitchen is dry erase. it reads

"
The Tao is like an empty bowl.
Which in being used can never be
filled up.
Fathomless, it seems to be the origin
of all things.
It blunts all sharp edges,
It unties all tangles,
It harmonizes all lights,
It unitess the world into one whole.
Hidden in the deeps,
Yet it seems to exist for ever.
I do not know whose child it is;
It seems to be the common ancestor of all,
The father of all things.
"

i've never seen snow before

i've never seen snow before. i'm from florida. i'm from Houston. wait, so it's like, slippery? oh. and it looks white for a bit but then it gets all gray and brown from all the sand and stuff on the road? oh, well that's gonna be real nasty. wait, and like it's gonna get all over my shoes? oh.

the snow falls sideways and falls on cars. the snow falls on the sidewalk and unfortunately makes people fall. when it snows people fall on the snow but the snow does not give. the snow is not soft rubber. the snow obscures and is only a layering, a sheen, a surface. gravel and pavement reside below.

in the woods the snow falls on grass and leaves. the leaves stay all winter long, hidden in the dark. in the woods the animals feel the wet snow on their uncovered paws.

they are all separate tracks

they are all separate tracks. blog posts are like facebook albums, you never know what you're gonna get. a box of chocolates is like a box of people, you never know what you're gonna get.

i just saw a roomba on the floor of my friends neighbors house. funniest thing you've ever seen, wow.

this is what this means

mark made a blog (observerparticles.blogspot.com). he said

"The aptly named davesplat.blogspot (try saying it fast, not easy) is responsible for getting me on here. Apparently dave types as he thinks, whatever it happens to be, and posts it without any filtration. brain spam, skipping thoughts, dave splat."

hahahah me gusta.
