The apartment

The apartment

Yes. Just at the folk’s house right now, gotta start getting focused. A lot on my plate, which other people understand.

Boston college basketball season begins tonight, I’m gonna try to watch online. Because there’s not gonna be an NBA season I’ll have to get my basketball fix from college.

Hmmmm had a good weekend. Went out to event Friday night, went out to something else Saturday night. Wow so descriptive. Well I still aim to maintain a degree of anonymity on this blog, so there ya go.

New J. Cole album just dropped. Check it out if ya haven’t.

That’s all I got, talk soon.

I'm so proud of you

Here in the building, got my ears to the floor and my nose to the grindstone.

Or my heart to the walls and my fingers on the pulse.

Rainy day, tripping people over with my right foot. Chukka clad size 12s crossed, stained black leather.

I'm so I'm so I'm so proud of you.

Classic

Been missing with Gmail themes a little bit. What themes do y'all use? I can't really use anything other than classic. I can't deal with anything other than the classic theme, not even bold blue works for me.

Wow I'm all full of exciting thoughts today.

Movember, Snowtober

Snowed last night. White fluffy flakes. Not that rare -- happened two years ago this week as well. Been a little cold, but hey -- it's fall, that's what happens. I can't decide what I dislike more -- the darkness or the cold. Might be the darkness. I would definitely prefer sunshine and cold rather than overcast and dark.

My apt's been getting a little cold too. We have oil heat and radiators as well as old windows, a drafty attic, and an old building. I've gotten door sweeps for the doors, but I wanna try to do some more insulation as well.

Here are some photos from this past weekend. It was a good weekend. I saw a bunch of people and had a good time. I went to the Riverside after party for the first time at Ned Devine's which was a good time. It was a lot of dancing with rowers. Rowers are big goofy people, so there were some challenges on the dance floor, but I had a blast. Saw folks from college, met some Australians and a Dutch, met an adaptive rower too who had just won his first head race.

What else? -- I gotta start cooking again. I think I gotta cook some combination of steak, quiche, and sugar cookies this weekend. Don't ask why -- Siri told me.

Ready all, row

Had a good weekend and finished in top ten for our event.

undefined (undefined:undefined)

Cool photo from the set of a music video produced by someone I tangentially know. Reminds me of like a nine inch nails music video or something? Or some neo noir movie like Brazil or Seven.

Hmmmm it's Friday and it's rainy. I worked out today and am happy about that. Trying to be productive and seize the night. Listening to SUB FM podcasts on the old iPod. I received a stereo system for free that isn't entirely functional, but the iPod dock and all of the different speakers and the woofer are pretty awesome.

NBA season is getting cancelled like whoa. Yikes. Oh well, gotta focus up on college basketball I guess.

I rowed the last couple weekends which has been fun. Did the whole head of the charles course both times. I'm actually rowing in the real head of the charles next weekend, which I'm getting excited for. I wanna kick some arse and win our event. I'll be in the alumni 8 and looking to go really fast.

I've been trying to watch some movies recently. Let's see, I watched "Crazy, Stupid Love" which was OK. I watched some of "Drive", but not all of it. I should just rewatch the whole thing rather than trying to watch it in pieces again. I must be on a Ryan Gosling kick! Hah. He's good, I like him. Seems to be all the rage right now.

I got loads of documentaries to watch too. I watched "Magic Trip", which was about the electric kool aid acid test, Ken Kesey, and his merry band of pranksters. It was pretty good, and I was at least able to learn about the group and it really made the story come alive. Their whole trip was supposed to be a movie, and so this documentary finally kind of brings that to life. There was clearly just so much footage, and I'm glad it finally made its way on to celluloid.

I watched "180 degrees south," which was a good documentary. It was really cool when they went to easter island and then Chile. So that was fun.

Aright I think I gotta go grocery shopping. Bout that time. Talk to y'all soon, peace!

"We're not near anything, but wherever that is, we're closer than we were before."

That's what David Stern said today. Yeah, get ready for not much basketball this year. He said that after like seven hours of bargaining with the players. Doesn't sound like it's going so well. Huge bummer. Although the timing's not that bad because I don't really have time to watch basketball no anyway.

I'm also not following boston college news and websites anymore. I gave up after watching them lose to Duke in person. So, I'm just watching the BC games on the wknd instead of avidly following all the bloggers and news.

It's October. Which means that it's ok to drink pumpkin beer and oktoberfest beer. I refuse to drink pumpkin beer or oktoberfest beer in September. Just doesn't seem right.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm little rainy weather. Not too bad though. At least it's not cold. I'm getting up at 6am tomorrow (today) morning to go rowing. Sounds like we're gonna row the full Head of the Charles course, all three miles. Should be fun. I gotta get some rest, wish me luck!

Night.

Clearly more is the answer

You ain't doing what I'm doing

Here's a photo of a woman lighting her tap water on fire. Methane in the water system. I think was a nytimes.com article about rural Pennsylvania tap water being contaminated with methane. Something like her well water was contaminated after she let some company drill for natural gas in the area (or something like that).

Beautiful weather today. Great weather for blogging, lemme tell ya.

Had a fun last night, including a continuation of a going away party. Fare thee well B.M., we'll miss ya.

Listening to Old Lil Wayne

Because Carter IV just isn't that good.

Had kind of a rowdy night. This and that and then that. So that was fun. Now I'm just at home, listening to the crickets outside. Just crickets chilling in the grass. Making noises. Noises that I can hear.

Did I tell you about the new rug that I got? It's in my room. It's big. I'm a fan.

good morning, good morning, good

Good morning everyone. I got about 30 seconds here. It’s a nice, cool day. Plenty of sun. but it wasn’t that warm this morning!

Gash I don’t like starting sentences with “but.” Drives me nuts when I see that on online articles. Won’t happen again, I promise.

Catch up with yall soon, I got a Boston harbor boat cruise tonight, woohoo!

Rowing photos

As we get ready for Head of the Charles, let's anticipate with some good photos.

I watched CNN's "Footnotes of 9/11"

Recommended. Last September 11th thought.

2001-2011 doesn't have any name like the eighties or nineties. It was the decade of 9/11. Not sure what that means exactly, but it's the best name I've heard.

We're moving on though, last week of summer here. I gotta go kayaking ASAP.

Went to a beer tasting tonight at WorkBar Boston which was fun. Interesting space.

That was the September 11th post

Every year on september 11th I usually get glued to the tv screen and watch a made for tv special on the tragic events. I usually end up getting teary. For me, it’s a good way to reflect on what happened. For the past ten years I’ve taken time out of every september 11th to watch whatever new tv special it was, and then reflect on it.

This year, on september 11th, 2011, things changed. There were no full length, hour long presentations with archival footage and interviews. Instead, I watched the “man in the red bandana” sportscenter clip (worth watching, very inspiring). On tv there was coverage of the memorial and other remembrance events. I think that the tv stations got tired of doing the same old show. It was much easier for news outlets to just broadcast live from ground zero rather than produce more 9/11 specials.

Still, I observed. I remembered, and I reflected.

In the Highways

In the Hedges. In the Highways. In the Hedges.

Hey folks what’s up. Well I’ve had a very productive day, which is good. Did a bunch of reading. Always a good thing.

It was very nice weather today, and, to be honest with you, I should have been outside more. I did read on the back porch some, but other than that I’ve been a little too cooped up. Bad Dave! Go outside on the nice days! Oh well. Sometimes you’re inspired to be productive, and today was one of those days. So, I’ll give myself a break this time.

I watched a lot of NFL RedZone today, obviously. The 1pm to 4:15pm segment with the eight games on at once is obviously the most intense time. Rob B. was here which was fun, and we had a good time screaming at the TV while we watched touchdown catches.

I gotta go kayaking again soon. It’s been way too long. Time’s running out. I should have gone this weekend, but I guess I had other priorities. It’s ok. So long as I get out a couple more times then I’ll have done well. Actually, now that I think about it, there’s less than two weeks of summer left. Yikes! Where’d it go! Gahhh. Well, better late than never. Gotta take advantage of the last scraps of summer.

I’m gonna miss this summer though. It was a good one though. Very fun and productive and meaningful. Plenty of interesting and impressive things.

I’m listening to KeyboardKid right now. He does a bunch of the beats for Lil B. these mixtapes are CRAZY. Check out “Based in the Rain” for starters. Tell him I sent ya J

Ok folks, it’s officially Monday now, I gotta start plannin ahead. Peace.

Blogger's new interface bugging

Blogger has a new interface. I’m still figuring it out. I think it just crashed on me. Gonna take a little bit I guess. So yeah I watched a lot of world rowing championships. That was pretty awesome. I went to the bc v northwestern game this weekend. They lost, but it was fun. It was a really nice day and I got some sun, so that was good. It was hot tho! Sheesh.

Hmmmm let’s see. Oh yeah I got a rug today. Massive success. I’m pretty happy about that. It’s an 8 by 10, so I had to literally take like everything out of my room to put it down right. But that wasn’t such a bad thing, because at least I vacuumed my whole room. So that’s great news. It’s been a busy day. Gonna be a busy week too!

It’s 73 degrees outside right now. I’m sitting at the dining room table of my apt in front of the air conditioner. I took out the air conditioner in my room because I think it was too old. Just gonna open windows.

I went kayaking on Thursday in the north river in marshfield. It was really cool. I rode the tide out a short ways and then just hung out on this beach for a while. It was awesome! Normally I just try to go for a really long distance and paddle for three to four or even five hours, which can get pretty tiring! This time I just took it easy. Not sure when I’ll be able to go again tho, maybe next Sunday I’ll go instead of watching redzone J

Oh yeah, other big news. I took the meyers briggs personality test again. I’ve changed! I used to be INTJ and now I’m ENTJ. The executive/field marshal. Haha. Pretty awesome. So yeah, I used to be introverted and now I’m extroverted. Still getting a kick outta that one.

Aright talk to yall soon, D
